Welcome to my new site!

So we are around one month into the most unprecedented event our lifetimes, and I think it’s fair to say that we are all still adapting to the changes that have come hand in hand with the arrival of Covid-19. Whilst there are many obvious negatives, I have seen some really positive things in the last few weeks, especially amongst musicians.

Amidst all the financial anxiety that has come with not being able to gig or teach, musicians have quickly found new ways to create and continue to reach and grow their audiences. Whilst some have written coronavirus themed songs to sing whilst washing hands, others have been recording with musicians the other side of the world who are also in lock down. Many have quickly adapted to find new ways of teaching using Skype/Zoom, and lots of bands have been continuing to release music that they record in their own homes.

I have joined the party, and have been working hard to get myself set up to teach online and also offer remote recording sessions from home. I’m very fortunate to have a home studio in which I can continue to work from, and I have enjoyed the challenge of getting set up to work remotely with both my teaching and recording. Back Chat Brass have also been working hard to release a song chosen by the public each week in a new series called #bedroombrass, where we arrange each request and record/film it in time for a release each Monday. Follow the band on facebook to see the tunes come out each week.

I have also used this time to FINALLY get my website together!! I’ll be using this space to post and share what I have been up to and working on. Hopefully it won’t be long before I can post some live gig footage…but for now I’ll be staying home, (hopefully) staying safe, and getting creative!
